This piece was inspired by an audio recording of my grandmother. In the recording she told a story about my great great Uncle Ed who would eat a raw onion and drink a bottle of whiskey everyday to avoid getting the flu during the Flu Epidemic of 1918. His reasoning was that he would be so drunk and his breath would be so bad no one would come near him.
